Junior Secondary Update

Week 10 new units will commence

Week 10 will be a normal school week and as such we would ask families to plan for their child to be in attendance as classes will be starting new work.

Term 1 Reports

Student Term 1 Interim reports will be emailed home on 26 April. 

Term 1 reports are interim reports. This means that they will indicate a child’s Term 1 achievement, effort and behaviour in each subject.

Please ensure that the email address we have recorded for you is current to ensure you receive your child’s report.

We encourage you to follow up on this report by attending Parent Teacher Interviews in Term 2. Information about how to book Parent Teacher Interviews will be sent with reports.

NAPLAN Update

PBC is once again preparing for NAPLAN - the only national assessment all Australian students have the chance to undertake. All students participated in a rehearsal on 23 February, so we could check our systems and familarise the students with their NAPLAN rooms.

As students progress through their school years, it’s important to check how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy. NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents and caregivers to see how their child is progressing against national standards and over time.

Online NAPLAN 'adaptive’ testing presents questions which may be more or less difficult depending on a student’s responses. This allows a wider range of student abilities to be assessed and measures student achievement more precisely.

NAPLAN is for everyone. Adjustments are available for students with disabilities who have diverse functional abilities and needs. If your child needs an adjustment, contact HOD Inclusive Practice Jane Bell.

Should you wish your child to be withdrawn from NAPLAN testing, please contact the Junior Secondary administration so that a form can be provided to you. This form should be returned to the school by 10 March.

NAPLAN tests will be conducted on 15, 20, 21 and 22 March. The tests last one period each; all other lessons will run as timetabled on these days.
