QLD Ballet

Congratulations to Claudia Molloy who is performing at BTQ (BALLET THEATRE QUEENSLAND) in the 2023 January season of Swan Lake Act 3/Graduation Ball at QPAC. It is quite difficult to gain a position in the BTQ company as the audition process is extensive and voluminous across the state. It is a substantial commitment, as it requires 40 weekend rehearsals during the year in Brisbane, on top of her 20 hours of ballet training per week and commitment to academic education at PBC. What an fantastic achievement for Claudia! We wish Claudia the best of luck for a successful season.

National School Touch Football Championships

Congratulations to PBC Touch Sports Excellence students Evie Clarkson, Oceiana Graham and Angela Sharpe who represented Queensland at the recent National School Championships held in Wagga Wagga. Angela played in the 12 years age group who went through the competition undefeated to become National Champions.

Evie and Oceiana played in the Under 15’s who were unfortunately defeated in the final by a strong NSW CHS team. At the conclusion of the championships Evie was selected in the Australian Secondary Schools Merit team. Congratulations girls.

Isabelle Gray (Richters) graduated PBC in 2019 with an OP1. The family were in the process of moving to WA, so Isabelle applied and received early entry to the University of Western Australia (UWA) and a Commonwealth supported Medical Rural Bonded Scholarship to enable her to fulfil her dream of studying medicine, in particular cancer research.

In 2022 Isabelle was given approval from UWA to complete her Honours research a year early, and participated in two research projects in the haematology department.

In support of her research, Isabelle received the 2022 Paul Katris Honours and Masters Scholarship from the Cancer Council WA to conduct research into improving testing and survival for children with leukaemia.

From a young age, participating in Cancer research and treatment has always been a major goal for Isabelle. Being able to participate and contribute in this research to aid in finding better treatment for children's cancer has been momentous for her this year, and hardened her determination to make a difference in the future.

The support, opportunities and guidance she received at PBC including the amazing staff, have helped her reach these amazing achievements. Go the Reds!
