Junior Secondary Update

Last 10 Days for Year 7-9

This year’s Last 10 days program will be similar to 2021 with specific activities for each year level in usual class based groups during Week 9 with the week culminating in the CARE carnival on Friday. School uniform is required for all days except CARE Carnival day where sun sensible free dress is allowed with enclosed shoes. Some assessments will still to be finalised on Monday and Tuesday of Week 9.

Australian Business Week (ABW) activities will also be happening all week for our Year 9 Academic excellence students.  Where staffing allows, students will have their usual teacher in their usual room but will be working on a range of practical and life based learning experiences such as career education and financial literacy. The program also allows for a review and celebration for each class. In the final week of school we are transitioning our Year 6 students into Year 7 on the Monday and Camps for Year 7-9 will be happening Monday-Wednesday. If your student is not going on camp there is an alternate program at school where students will rotate through a range of activities offered by each faculty.

The school canteen will  be closed on Thursday 8  and Friday 9 December so attending students will need to BYO lunch.

We have had a few enquiries about families requesting refunds for camp due to a change of mind. When camps are booked the school enters into a binding contract for these services and so funds have been committed to these suppliers and hefty deposits have already been paid as required by the contract. The bottom line being that these payments are non-refundable. Students are encouraged to go on camp and enjoy the experience. Some feedback has been that families are unsure how to read statements and invoices that are emailed home. If at any point you are ever unsure of what you are paying for please contact our finance team.

Transition Day Year 7 2023

Monday 5 December we will welcome 435 Year 6 students to sample a day at PBC. Parents have also been invited to join us for a brief induction and morning tea. Information has been distributed home to families via email.

NAPLAN Results finally available

The school has finally received information about how students have performed in their NAPLAN exams and teams of teachers gathered this week to review the cohort’s strengths and weaknesses so that we can plan intervention for students who need it for Literacy and Numeracy and also to review unit plans to strengthen specific areas that need it to support all learners.

Timetables for Year 9 2023

Timetables are still being finalised and staffing secured. It is anticipated that timetables will be in hard copy on day one next year. Students in Year 9 study 2 electives each semester and so if a subject is not listed on their semester one timetable it may be that they will be studying it in semester two.
