Senior Secondary Update

Term 3 has been another very successful and very busy Term for Senior Secondary. We thank both staff and students for their dedication to school. All senior students are currently in examination periods and will receive feedback around their progress from the beginning of Term 4. This will be particularly important for our Year 12 students who have undertaken Mock Exams as they make their final preparations for externals. We hope that everyone finds some time to rest and re-energise over the spring break.

Term 4: Year 12

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes for Weeks 1 and 2 in Term 4.

Week 3 will be dedicated SWOTVAC (study without teaching vacation) where students are not required to attend however are welcome to access their teachers during their scheduled class times. Students should consult and communicate with teachers their intent to attend in Week 3.

Week 4 – 7 will see the running of external exams on campus, where all students are required to sit their exams at the scheduled times unless QCAA have approved a clash. An AARA is required for any students that do not attend their external assessment for any other reason.

Term 4: Year 11

Students will commence the summative units for ATAR in Term 4 of this year and will have their first assessment for Unit 3 in Week 8 of Term 4. This will be a full shutdown in the week of 21 to 25 November.

With the beginning of Unit 3, this is the last opportunity for Year 11 students to change subjects in Senior Schooling. Any student requesting a subject change should come to Y block at the end of this term to collect a subject change form.

A reminder that all students must have passed a Unit of English and Maths by the end of Unit 2. Students that do not meet this requirement will have to complete Unit 1 or 2 gain in 2023 to be eligible for the QCE.

Applied Syllabus Feedback

The QCAA is currently seeking feedback on the Draft 2 Applied syllabuses.

Teachers, students and other key stakeholders including parents/caregivers are invited to participate in the review and revision process by providing subject-specific feedback via the Applied syllabuses survey.

The QCAA survey will be open until 17 October 2022.
