Welcome back to our Senior cohorts for Semester 2, with Term 3 promising to be a busy term across academic requirements, as well as the culmination of artistic and sporting competitions. We look forward to working with each of our senior students throughout Semester 2 as always, in what certainly is a jam-packed schedule.

Track & Field Carnival

Our whole-school Athletics Carnival will take place in Week 3, with the Track events taking place all day on Friday 29 July. This is a compulsory day of attendance for all students as per any other day of school, with students encouraged to participate in the athletic and recreational House activities. Students wishing to compete in field/throwing events must pre-register at the Sports Office - these are held across Period 1 and 2 on Thursday 28 July. A reminder that students attending the Athletics Carnival must do so for the entire school day - there is restricted capacity for sign-out's due to the closure of school offices. 

Senior Jerseys 2023

Year 11 students will have the opportunity to order a 2023 Senior Jersey over the coming weeks. Students should access sizing and order forms from the Uniform Shop, with final payments and orders required by Wednesday 31 August for a Term 1, 2023 delivery. A reminder that students who have existing uniform compliance concerns may not be approved to order this additional uniform item. 

Year 10 SET Plan Information Evening

Year 10 families will soon be emailed information regarding the Year 10 Subject Selection Evening and subsequent interviews. The information night on Tuesday 9 August is an occasion not to be missed, with subject and pathway decisions for the remainder of schooling covered on this night. 

Assessment Calendars and Shutdowns

• Year 11 students have exams this week in some subjects. This week is not a shutdown however, with all classes running as usual and students released for exams.
• All Year 12 students will have an exam shutdown for Mock Exams in Week 9 and 10 of Term 3.
• All assessment calendars are published at https://pbc-shs.eq.edu.au/curriculum/testing-and-assessment .

Year 12

Year 12s will be sent a cumulative report of their results for Unit 3 and 4 in the week beginning 15 August. This will be the last report that Year 12 students will receive from PBC as final exit level of achievement and results are determined by the QCAA. This report will be accessible as a digital download only from your students QCAA account. Make sure they’re registered for this account via the MyQCE website. 

On 2 August, QTAC will open applications for Year 12 students wishing to apply for University in 2023. We remind parents and students that even if a student intends on taking a ‘gap year’ they should still take part in this process and exercise their option to defer the start of their studies to a later semester or Year. 2023 QTAC guides will be handed out to all Year 12 students at the next grade level assembly. If students have questions or would like guidance in their pathways for 2023 and beyond please direct them to visit a Senior School staff member in Y block.
