Senior School Update

Free Dress Day Fundraiser a huge success

The_Sanctuary_Refuge.jpg

A huge congratulations to the PBC school community!!!  Our students raised $1800 in support of local charity, ‘The Sanctuary’.  The school was a sea of purple of Friday 7 June, as students spoke in numbers against domestic violence in our community. Thank you to the Senior School Student Leaders who organised the event.

Year 12 QCS Practice Exams

Over the last two days our Year 12 cohort continued with their preparations for the upcoming QCS Exams in August.  This now marks the end of QCS Practice Exams in what has been a gruelling 18 months of preparation. The students are to be commended for their application and efforts in a year that marks the end of QCS examinations. Thank you to Mr McDougall and the great QCS teaching team who ensured that our students were well-prepared.

Year 12

QCAA learning accounts

All Year 12 students were recently issued (via their school email) with instructions to log onto the Student Connect website at www.qcaa.qld.edu.au. It is important that students do this to ensure that their details such as correct spelling of their name, address and date of birth and subjects studied are correct. At the end of Year 12 it is the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority, not PBC, which will issue and send out the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and OP and Senior Statement. Students who log on by 31 August are also in the running to win an Apple MacBook Air. Any students who finds that their details are incorrect should contact Ms Ashby in Y block.

Please note that the software program that emailed LUi numbers and passwords may have deleted the leading 0s in the number e.g. a LUI number of 0154634579 may have been emailed as 154634579. Disregard this, as this is an error with the emailing program not the students LUI.

Year 12 students have completed Semester 3 assessment and have the following upcoming dates in term 3:

  • Wednesday 7 August QCS masterclass in Sport time 1:00 to 2:30pm
  • Wednesday 14 August QCS masterclass in Sport time 1:00 to 2:30pm

  • Wednesday 21 August QCS masterclass in Sport time 1:00 to 2:30pm

Year 11

The Year 11 students certainly do have a busy schedule completing Unit 1 and 2 of the new QCE in 3 terms and need to ensure that they are applying time management strategies and are appropriately prioritising their time.

Year 11 student’s next assessment period commences in week 2 of term 3. A timetable of exams will be published on the school website. Year 11s will then have a full shutdown to complete Unit 2 in week 10 of term 3, 16 to 20 September.

Moving forward Year 11 students will commence the summative units for ATAR in term 4 of this year and will have their first assessment for Unit 3 in the last week of term 4. This will be a full shutdown in the week 25 to 29 November.

In 2020 Year 12 and Year 10 students will have their exams and assessment due in the last week of each term (week 10).
