Growing Good Humans

Over the last two weeks Growing Good Humans (GGH) sessions with Paul Bullpitt and Anna Wyatt were offered to our Year 7 students. These sessions explored and provided participants with skills for physical-mental-social teaching with a focus on body awareness, emotional awareness and self-awareness. Students participated in activities of identifying situations, using our body clues, in which they have felt anxious and/or angry. They were also provided with a variety of relaxation tools to assist with self-regulation. Year 7 students will participate in further GGH sessions in term 3. 

Behaviour and Effort

As a measure to address and improve Junior Secondary student effort and behaviour, Heads of Year and Junior Secondary Head of Department for Student Engagement have developed and began to run Effort and Behaviour: Re-focus program sessions with students. These sessions are designed to create a supportive and non-adversarial environment for students to acknowledge areas that they can improve both their effort and behaviour. Students are provided with a framework for improvement and work collaboratively with their peers and support staff to create their own improvement plans, which are shared with their parents and classroom teachers. Follow up meetings will be held in Term 3 to acknowledge improvement and to hold students accountable to their own measures of success.
