NAIDOC 2021
PBC was lucky enough to celebrate NAIDOC with our full school assembly on Wednesday 20 October (postponed twice due to COVID).
Once again the student’s displayed exemplary behaviour as they listened about the importance of NAIDOC Week and watched their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peers be acknowledged for their academic and sporting achievements.
Thank you to the Bundjalung Kunjiel dance troupe who performed a series of traditional dance and stories. It was great to see Bella, Nakeeya and Jakeem perform with the troupe. We were also lucky enough to have special guests in attendance with Mr Matthew Mills, Regional Community Education Counsellor, Mr Brandon Wakeling, former PBC students and current Olympic Weightlifter and Deadly Choices Ambassador, as well as Ms Tamika Upton, Deadly Choices Ambassador and Australian Rugby League footballer who plays for the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL Women's Premiership. Our assembly was hosted by Year 11 and 12 students Ethan, Myrisha, Tanu and Bailee. We also had one of our Year 7 students Harpa speak about the importance of this year’s theme, Heal Country.
