On Thursday 26 August be sure to come to school dressed in yellow and with a gold coin to donate to an amazing cause. It is PBC's Daffodil Day Fundraiser. There will be cupcakes on sale in both the Junior and Senior areas at Lunch plus live music!
Every year PBC raises money for the Cancer Council and Cancer Research. Let's get together to raise as much money as we can for this very important research.

PBC is turning 50 and we are looking forward to celebrating with you. We recently requested anyone with a connection to PBC complete a survey to allow us to determine how you would like to celebrate. It is wonderful to receive great feedback from so many enthusiastic PBC Reds.

Merchandise

50_years_uniforms.png

PBC supporters will be able to order an awesome PBC 50 Years Supporters Polo Shirt and Jersey. The designs are inspired by a retro PBC sports uniform, it's red and white and features both the old and new PBC logos. These will be available for purchase via an online order link before the end of the month. Payment will be required up front and delivery is expected in February 2022. We will email the order link as soon as it's available plus share it on our socials and website.

There will also be a variety of PBC 50 Years merchandise available to purchase at each event so everyone can walk away with something marking our 50 years.

Can you help?…

  • We are looking to collect as much PBC memorabilia as we can from all the decades PBC has been open. If you have any old uniforms, awards, trophies, photos or any other school related items that you can loan us please get in contact by emailing Heidi Wallace on hwall90@eq.edu.au or calling 07 5525 9312. All items loaned will be carefully catalogued, protected and stored securely and then returned after the open day. If you can help, please get in contact. We already have all the Yearbook's on file.
  • If you would like to help with the organisation of the Open Day, we are putting together committees to represent each decade. Those committees will be in charge of sourcing and displaying items from their allocated decade at the Open Day. If this appeals to you, please email Heidi Wallace on hwall90@eq.edu.au
  • We would like to produce a PBC – 50 Years memorial magazine that will cover off the last 50 years of PBC action. If you are a graphic designer and would like to help with this please email Heidi Wallace on hwall90@eq.edu.au or 07 5525 9312.

Thank you again for supporting PBC's 50th birthday. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at one or all of our fabulous events.

Till the next update…

Regards,
The PBC 50 Years Celebration Committee

2021 Early School Leavers survey

The Queensland Government is seeking the support of the school community for the annual survey of Year 10, 11 and 12 students who left school in 2020, before completing Year 12. This short, confidential survey collects information about what young people are doing the year after leaving school. The results of the survey help provide valuable information to improve services available to school leavers in the future.

Between August and September, these school leavers can expect to receive instructions to complete a web-based survey or a telephone call from the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office. Please encourage them to take part. If their contact details have changed, please assist the interviewer with their updated details or forward the survey to their new address so they can participate.

Thank you for your support of Next Step post-school destination surveys in 2021.

For more information, visit www.qld.gov.au/nextstep/ or telephone toll free on 1800 068 587.

Vaping

Senior Constable Kurt Foessel of the Palm Beach Police Beat has provided PBC with a video discussing the big issue of vaping among our young people and highlighting our need to protect students from this health damaging activity. This video is being shown to students in assemblies and CARE and the issue is consistently being addressed. Click this link to watch the video: https://youtu.be/4qeSLjQ_VF0
