PBC LEO's News
June was the last month for the Leo’s this term before our two-week holiday break. 4 new members were inducted into our wonderful club by President Peter Smith of the Lion’s Club.
This month the Leo’s made many donations. Firstly PBC Leo’s Club donated $200 to Baby Give Back. We also donated to the local Girl Guides and Scouts. We made a $250 donation to Girl Guides, as well as a $250 donation to the Scouts.
At the end of term the Leo’s had Nadia and Ken from Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary visit us and speak to us about themselves and what they do at the Sanctuary as well as their animal adoption program and research programs. Nadia is the education manager as well as Ken, who also manages the indigenous programs in the sanctuary and in the community. We collectively decided to adopt an echidna and a koala. As well as this we donated a total of $450. This money will go towards the adoption of the animals and their research programs for the Tasmanian devil, Kroombit Tinker Frogs, Echidna and Eastern Bristle Bird.
In the last week of school, the PBC Leo’s were given a Gratitude morning tea from Care Class P3M. This a part of their kindness class project and was an absolute surprise and pleasure for all the Leo’s. P3M’s message to the PBC Leo’s was: “Thank you, PBC appreciates all you do to represent our school. P3M acknowledge you for giving up your own time”. The Leo’s were grateful with this display of gratitude. Thank you Care Class P3M.
Coming up next term we have the Trivia Night which will be held at the Palm Beach Currumbin Sports Club on 20 August. We will also be continuing our Currumbin Special School Breakfast and our IGA weekly BBQ’s!
