The Clontarf Academy

Welcome back to Term Two! We hope you have had an enjoyable holiday break and you are as excited as we are to start the new term!

Term Two is notoriously busy with educational outcomes and attendance in the forefront of our minds. Setting SMART goals is key to developing a healthy routine and balance between school, sport and extra carricula activities. Better health is a result of just a little extra planning. Having your bag organised the night before, setting the alarm a little earlier and you'll have time to exercise and eat breakfast, fueling your body for the day. Results from conversations with the students about the benefits are better stress levels lead to improved mental health, more time to relax and less anxiety.

Year 11 students took part in the Gold Coast Trades College - Careers Expo. Participants were able to get an insight into various trades and nationally recognised courses faciliated at the Currumbin campus. It was a fantaastic handson apporach that had our young men gaining new skills instantly.

Our Easy Eats and Back to Basics acitivities have kicked off again this term where students are learning about healthy, budget friendly meals. Teaching knife handling, meat prepartion and the right amount of heat on a pan being a few learnings. So far the boys have had a hand in pulled pork burgers, curried sasuaged and pancakes.

Morning trainings for this Term will consist of Tuesday skill games on the oval at PBC and Thursdays will be fitness or recovery at Currumbin Alley. A lot of our young men are currently playing school and club sport so it is a perfect way to cater to both players wanting to stretch and recover or head for some exercise up the stairs. Finishing each session with a health breakfast to fuel us for the rest of the day.

Foundation partners OfficeWorks paid us a visit to see the room, meet the students and speak about potential job opportunities. Harry Chadburn and Reef McKay were fantastic in taking the staff members for a tour highlighting their experience with Clontarf.
