The Sports Excellence program has gotten off to a strong start in 2021. PBC alumni and Rugby League National championship winning coach Mr Aaron Zimmerle has returned after touring the world with his family to take up the position of full time Athlete Development Manager.

His role encompasses all of our Year 7 to 9 Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) sessions where athletes are benchmarked against a number of ASCA tests regarding functional movement and strength. Mr Zimmerle has organised for a number of university interns who are studying Exercise Science to assist him to ensure we deliver a comprehensive program. Correct technique and understanding the why of each exercise is of paramount importance to ensure holistic development of the young athlete.

Our junior secondary students have also started to be screened by our own School Physiotherapist Mr Matt Fechner from Inspire Physiotherapy. This process will help identify any deficiencies or imbalances so that we may prescribe specific exercises for the individual athlete.

Speed sessions for our Year 9 students have also begun in Term 1. Momentum Sports conducts these sessions with our Rugby League, Tennis, Touch, Soccer boys and Basketball athletes where they participate in an eight week program. All students are pre and post tested so that athletes can track their improvement.

PBC’s senior sports excellence programs have also benefitted from the new role with every group now having access to both a professionally written S&C program and a qualified strength and conditioning specialist in either Mr Zimmerle or Mr Johnston.

Lastly a big thank you to all the parents who have nominated PBC as their Rebel Sport community giveback partner. As a direct result of your nominating our school PBC has been credited with over $4000 worth of goods from Rebel that has purchased gym equipment and other items for our HPE / SPX courses.
