Important message for young drivers
Young people are over-represented in serious crashes in Queensland, especially in rural and remote areas. Regional roads aren’t a game — young drivers need to slow down and drive to the conditions. Driving the safest speed for the conditions can help you stay safe and in control on the road. The Regional roads aren’t a game campaign was co-designed by a team of five young drivers from across Queensland, drawing on their real-life experiences, and with the support of road safety and advertising industry mentors.

Harvest work incentive open to school leavers
If you’re a school leaver and looking for a working holiday adventure over summer, agriculture could be a great choice. Queenslander farmers are seeking workers to fill labour shortages. Workers in the Wide Bay and Darling Downs areas could be eligible for an incentive of up to $1500 to assist with costs of travelling and staying in these regional areas to undertake work. For details on how to apply, visit the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries website. The Australian Government is also offering up to $6000 relocation assistance to take up short-term agricultural work.
