Cadets

Aedan Ruth, Year 11 received the highest accolade possible in Army Cadets last week - the National Adventure Training Award. He was one of 8 Army cadets (chosen from 120 Queensland cadets), who were flown to Canberra to attend the special training due to their competence in displaying leadership skills, initiative, and self-reliance. The Adventure training included navigation, first aid, and CASEVAC procedures, quick decision making, survival, watermanship, physical fitness, and endurance. He was also awarded the "Esprit de Corps - Leadership Award" by popular vote for the past 2 years. Congratulations Aedan! What a fantastic achievement. Aedan also took part in PBC's Anzac Day Ceremony on 24 April.

Since joining the Army cadets four years ago he has become a Commanding Sergeant Major with the rank of Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2). The Cadet youth development program and the opportunities it has provided for Aedan has helped him become a confident, compassionate and self-motivated young man. Aedan’s parents highly recommend the program to any youth wanting to expand their skill set and potential.

Netball

Congratulations to our School Captain, sports excellence netballer and the 2018 Sportswoman of the Year, Abi Houston who was named Vice Captain of the U17 Queensland Netball team. Abi competed in the nationals in Brisbane Tuesday 9-16 April. Abi has dedicated every minute from September rehabilitating her body from a severe netball injury: a tear in her right medial meniscus, tears in the ACL and a sprained PCL. What an inspirational journey and young female athlete!

World Kickboxing Association Success

Congratulations to Jade Summers, Year 12, who recently represented Australia and won Gold when she defeated New Zealand in the World Kickboxing Association Junior Amateur World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand as part of the 4th International and Thai Martial Arts Games 2019. In order to raise the money to fund the trip to Bangkok, Jade not only worked at Sea World all Christmas school holidays but also recycled bottles for months and did a sausage sizzle so that she could reach her goal. What a fantastic effort with an awesome outcome!
