Executive Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Capra_Christopher.jpgLast week we celebrated the excellence that our Senior Secondary Students have displayed this year in the areas of academia, sports and arts.  It was great to have the opportunity to recognise the outstanding achievements of our students in a disjointed year and that all their hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Congratulations to Molly Keen, School Dux who received the 2020 Dux Trophy sponsored by Mrs Costigan and the late Mr Costigan as well as the 2020 Dux prize of $1,000 sponsored by the Bendigo Bank Tugun Community Branch, Platinum PBC Alliance partner. Molly also received the Sir Samuel Griffith scholarship valued at $24,000. Thank you to the staff who worked hard to ensure that the students could achieve to the best of their ability this year and then gave up their seats on the night to ensure that the parents could attend. I know many staff, students and parents tuned in at home to view the live streaming. Finally, congratulations to Talulah Ratcliffe and Zackary Hubbard who were selected to be our 2021 School Captains. Looking at how many of our Year 9 leaders in 2018 have backed up to be selected as Year 12 leaders in 2021 demonstrates the ongoing commitment our students have to being “Reds”.

Year 12 external exams commenced yesterday with the General English exam. Over the next three weeks our students will complete their exams which go towards their final ATAR score and their Qld Certificate of Education. This is the first time that Queensland students have sat external exams that have counted towards their final university entrance score (ATAR).

The air-conditioning project continues at a rapid pace with the school still expecting to have all general classrooms air-conditioned by the end of the school year.  We are experiencing daily classroom changes to allow for installation team to complete their ongoing works, so it is essential that students listen to the daily notices and check their emails each day about possible room changes.
