Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Last week we commemorated ANZAC Day as a whole school event. This forms one of only three times in the year where we join together as a whole school community in one place. One of our guest speakers commented on how daunting it is to see almost 2500 students gathered in one place let alone the number of staff present. This is a special occasion at PBC and one that is made all the richer by our wonderful Cadets, both Army and Air Force, who have their time in the Honour Guard and assisting with the service. Much planning, well in advance goes into an event like this and I am grateful to Wendy Wise for her leadership and to Lyn Bortolin for her tireless efforts to make sure everything goes smoothly and special guests are looked after.

This year our special guest reflection came from Ian Bullpitt who is related to one of our own staff Paul Bullpitt. Ian served for 15 years but has done much more work since in special projects in several countries especially in relation to landmine recovery. The other highlight aside from the amazing job our senior leaders did hosting the event, was our school band, once again they impressed both students listening and our invited guests. I am sure I am not alone in feeling so proud of the way our students demonstrated their respect to the ANZAC legend and considered soldiers past and present on this day of reflection.
