Message from the Executive Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Capra_Christopher.jpgFriday witnessed one of the few times this year that we were able to bring the whole school together.  The Track and Field Carnival on Friday was well attended and we had a record number of students participating in the events.  The students were well behaved and their dress in either house colours or the Year 12 theme was great to witness.  It was good to see our high achieving athletes having the chance to perform at the only competitive event this year with all representative meets being cancelled.

This week sees the recommencement of our Optima Awards assemblies where we recognise outstanding student behaviour, effort, achievement and representation.  Another eagerly awaited school event which returns next week is the Staff vs Students events.  A range of sport and academic endeavours see the seniors compete against the staff at the first break each day.  A range of inter-house activities also commence in the coming weeks including PBCs Got Talent.  Information about what is happening is told to the students each day in daily notices.

Although the school is attempting to make life as normal as possible for the students, COVID-19 preventative measures are still in place at the school.  We still have additional cleaning hours to keep high traffic areas safe and we are still using stronger cleaning products.  We have restricted adult attendance at school functions and in some cases have prevented any parent attendance.  We do monitor the latest COVID-19 updates and adjust our plans accordingly, so please understand that the decisions we make are based on the information that we have at the time in an effort to keep the school community safe.

Well done to the Junior Debating Team who have now defeated the Qld Academy of Health Sciences and Somerset College to be undefeated in 2020.

Three of four football teams have qualified for the Premier League semi-finals.  The senior girls were unlucky not to move on even though they didn’t lose a game.
