National Reconciliation Week

19159_campaign_assets_nrw_facebookcover_sm_1.jpg

(27 May to 3 June) During CARE students were able to reflect on the 1967 Referendum result and the High Court Mabo decision and listened to fellow students and teachers reflect on what Reconciliation means to them. Some classes were able to watch the documentary “In My Blood It Runs”, while others viewed the Adam Goodes story; “The Australian Dream”. It was a great opportunity to open discussions about why Reconciliation is an important concept to talk about at school and in the wider community. This year’s theme, In this Together, reinforces that we all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. Chief Executive Officer of Reconciliation Australia, Karen Mundine, summarised it perfectly; “Australia’s ability to move forward as a nation relies on individuals, organisations and communities coming together in the spirit of reconciliation”.

The grant funded by Tennis Australia and the Department of Education is valued at $52,646. There will be three major projects undertaken using the grant monies. These include the upgrading of all light fixtures, the fitting of a new perimeter fence as well as the installation of a new online booking system “Book a Court” that will allow the public to book the use of our courts at night and over the weekend. Fantastic news for our Tennis athletes and the Tennis program

Students that are Unwell at School

The Chief Health Officer has issued the following School Exclusion Direction for managing people with contagious illness at school:

If a student at school is unwell with a contagious illness the school must notify the parent or guardian. The parent or guardian must collect the child as soon as possible, and the child must not return to the school until they are well or enough time has passed that they are not contagious.

The Chief Health Officer has made a specific direction during this Covid19 public health emergency. Click link to read.

If a student / staff member has symptoms, it is recommended they:

  • Do not come to school - isolate at home and seek appropriate medical assessment
  • If symptoms are detected at school, follow the directions above
  • Get a COVID-19 test, and remain in isolation until the results are received
  • Practice good hand hygiene and sneeze/cough etiquette
  • Do not return to school until acute symptoms have resolved.

We are grateful for your continued support. Working together is the most effective way for us to continue to protect our community.
