Ride2School Day 2019

PBC Alliance Partner Storm Cycles sponsored our Ride2School Day by providing bike checks for our students, handing out vouchers and donating prizes to help incentivise students to ride to school with their helmets on. It was great to see so many students taking the opportunity to have their brakes checked, tyres pumped up and chains oiled. The students each received vouchers for a discount at Storm Cycles Tugun and two students won a $100 gift certificate. We still need more students wearing helmets and obeying road rules. It is great to see so many students riding to school.

Working Musicians Program

Students involved in the Working Musicians Program were joined this week by local songstress, Lily Budiasa for a song writing workshop. You will be able to hear some of these budding artists perform their original songs in a live music venue a little later in the year. Very exciting stuff - watch this space!

PBC School Council Elections

As an Independent Public School our School Council plays an integral role in the governance of our school. It is important that every parent understands the work the council will undertake in this year as it will have significant impact on the strategic direction of our school.

The school council is responsible for providing strategic advice to the principal and overseeing the governance of the school. Training is provided to new members.
School council members serve a two year tenure and we would like to acknowledge the following members who have recently completed their time on the council:

  • Philip Follent – Parent Representative
  • Sarah Bannan – Non-teaching Representative

Accordingly, vacancies exist for:

  • 1 x Parent Representative
  • 1 x Non-Teaching Representative
  • 2 x Student Representatives

This year the School Council will be responsible for providing advice about the implementation of PBC's 2018-2021 Strategic Plan. Members of the council will play an essential role not only in shaping this plan but keeping key members of the school's leadership to account on the key agendas and strategies.

If you are interested in being involved in this work, I encourage you to nominate for the School Council. I also encourage those staff members who are not interested in joining the Council to have their say in who represents them by voting in the school Council Elections.

Details of the nomination and election process are as follows:

  • All self-nominations close on 26 April 2019
  • School Council election day for Staff and Student representatives will be 13 May 2019  7:30am – 9:00am in TTC Bar / Dining
  • School Council election day for Parent Representative will be 13 May 2019 4:30pm – 5:30pm in TTC I01.
  • Instructions and forms for self-nominations are available on our school website under Our Community / School Council tab.

We look forward to receiving your nominations.
