Junior Secondary Update

Assessment and Reporting

Assessment for the end of term will proceed as closely to what we had planned as normal. We are offering extra support sessions on Thursday mornings from 8:15am to assist students who feel behind on their return to school this term. Reporting will be based on completed assessment and in some cases this may mean it will only be based on one item rather than two. We are not chasing incomplete assessment from Term 1 as we feel it has been too long passed and students will be disadvantaged in completing these items as well as keeping up with current work.

Semester 2 Planning

The Leadership team is currently planning for the second half of the academic year. Preparation includes reviewing our resourcing and support to classrooms and the use of our classroom teacher aides, analysing diagnostic data on student literacy and numeracy levels, and furthering our support of students with disabilities by developing capability of teachers working with students.

General Enrolment Year 7 2021

For parents who have younger siblings in Year 6 can I advise that our General Enrolment Night has been delayed to Wed 29 July in the PBC Theatre at 6:00pm. Invitations for students enrolled in our feeder schools in our catchment area will be posted home early next term. This night is not for excellence programs and parents of students in these programs who are out of our catchment areas are reminded that the sibling rule does not apply in this case. The night is not compulsory but provides an opportunity to meet the Junior Secondary team and to gain information about the current enrolment process and our One2One laptop program. Enrolment packs will be available at the end of the presentation. Further details can be found on our school website soon. I look forward to seeing you there.

One2One Program

Just a reminder to families that these devices issued in Year 7 and 8 remain the property of the school until the completion of the three year agreement and the payment of the three instalments annually. If you leave PBC then you are asked to return your device to the school. If there has been a situation that has resulted in loss, theft or damage to the device I would encourage you to contact either the school’s Junior Secondary office or the IT department directly.
