Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Capra_Christopher.jpgThe school is reviewing its financial positon weekly, just as we know is happening with many of our school families.  As is the case with some of our families, the school has lost substantial revenue/income through the loss of international students and hire agreements.

We will be emailing statements home next week to detail any outstanding invoices on your student’s account. Once you receive your statement, if your family is experiencing financial hardship, please contact Lynne Riley on 5525 9308 for a confidential discussion regarding how we can help with any outstanding fees. This request is so we can establish the school’s liabilities looking ahead given our existing commitments regarding resources for the remainder of 2020.

It has been great to have the students back at school and participating in most of the activities that have been shut down during the height of the COVID19 pandemic.  Our Art Gallery Display has been updated, the students have been undertaking live performances, students are outside and physically active and inside and working hard.  From what we have witnessed, and from community feedback, the students have been implementing social distancing where possible in high density public areas however if parents could please remind students about staying apart when in shopping centres and cafes, especially those venues that have a limited customer capacity.

The school is still trying to ensure that there will be an Interschool Sports Competition commencing in Term 3 for Years 7 to 10 utilising the existing Gala Day dates. The schools involved in interschool sport have expressed the desire to have the Year 11 and 12 students continue to work on their senior educational pathway to ensure that they graduate with a QCE instead of participating in interschool sports. This means for Year 11 and 12 students we will be crediting any payments made for interschool sport into the students’ accounts. If you would like to make an alternate arrangement, please contact Lynne Riley on 5525 9308.

Report Cards for most students will be issued in early Term 3. This set of report cards will be the first with level of achievement distribution added as a column but no comments.  It was the intention to have more meaningful parent – teacher - student interviews however we are still waiting to see if there are any restrictions remaining in place after the school holidays that would impact on the interviews.
