Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Capra_Chris_Copy_.jpg2019 has been another successful year with many highlights included in this last edition of the newsletter for the year.  At the time of writing we were cautiously optimistic that based on provisional data, we were looking possibly our second best ever QCS (Year 12) results and the best results in the past decade.  Good luck to our former Year 12s who will receive their OP results in the coming days.

A reminder that the school is closed over most of the holidays and is definitely not a play / hang out space for bored teenagers. There is a lot of construction work occurring over the break and our school will be in the jurisdiction of the contractors. The school office re-opens on Monday 20 January at 8:00am and the Uniform Shop re-opens on Monday 20 January at 7:00am. The Uniform Shop will have extended trading hours for the first two weeks from Monday 20 January. See further details in the Administration section of this newsletter.

On the week commencing 20 January 2020, we will be sending out an important Newsletter Update with information regarding

  • Reminder of starting dates and times for the students
  • Reminder that Wednesday’s in 2020 are full school uniform days
  • No mobile phones are to be used in class by Year 7 and 8 students
  • Interschool Sport dates and trials
  • Reminder about the enforcement of the school sock policy

2020 Student Commencement Dates:

Tuesday 28 January 2020

  • Year 7 students – report to the Hall by 9:00am
  • Year 11 students – report to CARE Class by 9:00am
  • Year 12 students - report to CARE Class by 9:00am

 Wednesday 29 January 2020

  • Year 8 students – report to CARE Class by 9:00am
  • Year 9 students – report to CARE Class by 9:00am
  • Year 10 students - report to CARE Class by 9:00am

The staggered start allows us to give the Year 7 students a full orientation program with all Year 7 staff able to be present.  It also allows the Year 11 and 12 students to commence their senior studies straight away.

2020 will see the school population grow to 2630 students as the six full cohorts commence (as the foundation half prep cohort graduated in 2019). The new library precinct is ready to go and the new classrooms built for this growth will be a wonderful addition to the school learning spaces.

Have a fantastic holiday period and to those families whose time at PBC has come to an end, farewell and all the best for the future, and to everyone else, see you in 2020.

Regards,
Chris Capra, Executive Principal
