Working Musicians Project

Last Friday the Working Musicians of PBC visited local recording studio, Big Note Productions, where they collaborated with world-class producer Tim Goodburn to record and produce one of their original songs.  Students gained incredible insight into what it takes to record, produce and perform original music at a professional level.  It was a huge, hands-on, jam-packed day of inspired music making and we can’t wait to share more with you soon!

Drama Excellence Field Trip

Thank you to all the parents who dropped our Drama Excellence students off for their field trip. The students went to the world premiere of the fantastic, new work by First Australian playwright, Steven Oliver. The work was challenging, cathartic and deeply emotive. A great day was had by all of the students. A big thank you to the Arts department for organizing the field trip.

Basketball State Championships

Congratulations to the PBC girls open basketball team for placing 3rd at State Champs. The girls had huge hearts in true Reds Spirit to place and receive a medal. Their comradeship and respect for the coaching staff, each other and the Reds assisted in this huge achievement. Further congratulations must go to our graduating athletes in Tayla Sleaford, Tatiana Wright and Maddison Andrews.

PBC Tennis – State Finals

Congratulations to our PBC Tennis Teams as they have just come back from the State Finals in Rockhampton where both the boys and girls finished 5th in the State which was a great achievement. The students played some amazing tennis over 2 days in tough conditions and with  a bit of luck with the draw could easily have finished in the top 3 which is definitely the goal for next year!!

Care Community Project

This term in Care, students worked together on a Community Project, supporting a local charity of their choice.  It was great to see the variety of organisations represented and the quality of projects presented at our recent MS and SS Showcases. The Community Projects aim to increase student awareness and involvement in the local community as well as develop their interpersonal skills, understanding and empathy.  Projects included knitting blankets for the homeless, creating art work for a local kindergarten, building ramps to increase disabled access in the local area, collections of food, toiletries etc for the homeless, sun safety campaigns, nude food promotions, stationary collections and a touch footy tournament raising awareness for Mental Health (just to name a few).

The level of effort displayed at our recent Showcases was overwhelming, with special guests from a  number of organisations in attendance.

Middle School Showcase

Mrs Bourke's A8M Care class collected goods from the PBC community to put together hampers for Homeless Youth. Each hamper was of a different category and was tagged with an inspirational quote. Today students proudly presented their hampers to Pauline from Homeless Youth who was so appreciative of their efforts to help people in need.

Our wonderful V10M CARE Class elected to take part in a community project this term; supporting Orange Sky Australia by collecting unwanted showering and toiletry items to help people experiencing homelessness to feel a higher sense of dignity and care from within their local community. Our CARE class collected around 90 packs, some small and some large, and worked incredibly hard to distribute items.
It was great to have Jane from Orange Sky join us last week to help build the relational culture that supports students in feeling more connected to the school and the local community.

Container Deposit Scheme

Thank you to everyone that continues to support our student by donating their recyclable containers to our CDS program. Last week was the largest week we have had for some time raking in about $350-400 worth of containers! This is great for our students eco-project plans and great for the environment! If you would like to contribute to this wonderful cause, and form of fundraising, please bring along your containers to the Reds Oval on Wednesday mornings between 7:00 and 9:00am during term time.
