As a part of our 2019 strategic plan, our focus has been on building capacity and supporting our students within a Positive Education framework. It has also been a priority to engage students in programs to cater for and support them in developing their Social and Emotional Wellbeing and General Health. As a part of this focus we are fortunate Ms Hilary Wilson, our School Nurse, has been working with our year groups to improve knowledge about their own health and wellbeing. Hilary’s next session with our students will be a split-gender presentation on Tuesday 22 October with our Year 10 students. This follows a widely successful session with our graduating Year 12’s.

Uniform Reminder: Next year all students will be required to be wearing PBC branded socks. These are able to be purchased from the Uniform Shop for $4 a pair.

Year 12 Formal & Graduation

All guest tickets for the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony to be held on Wednesday 13 November at the Gold Coast Convention Centre are on sale now from Student Services. Guest tickets to this event are $15 each and there is no limited allocation per student at this time. A reminder that the Graducation will commence at 5:45pm and conclude at approximately 7:45pm.

2020 School Captain Elections

During Week 1, PBC commenced our election process for our 2020 School Captains. 30 gifted and courageous Year 11 students delivered stirring messages to their peers and teachers detailing their leadership vision and credentials leading into a student vote. These speeches were inspiring and honest and we wish all of our wonderful candidates well as they undertake the election process. The 30 candidates are pictured here with the wonderful Amanda Stewart, their proud Year Coordinator and leadership mentor. The 2020 School Captains will be formally announced to the school community on Academic Awards in Week 6 of this term.

Aurora scholarships for Year 12 students

Every year Aurora Training Institute offers two full scholarships for Year 12 school leavers. The scholarships are into any of the below diploma courses:

• Diploma of Business
• Diploma of Community Services
• Diploma of Hospitality Management
• Diploma of Leadership and Management

These scholarships are worth between $5,000-$10,000 and are a great post school pathway for Year 12 students. Interested students can get an application form from Miss McQueen in F Block staffroom.
