Dragons Abreast Gold Coast - Trivia Night

Dragons Abreast Gold Coast is delighted to be hosting the most important event on our calendar, the PINK October trivia night, at the fantastic upstairs function room of the Currumbin RSL on Friday 18 October. We expect it to be a great success and estimate that we will host 200 people with 20 tables of 10.  We have sold over 50 tickets already. Our club has been operating for nineteen years, and is the only breast cancer awareness club on the Gold Coast. To continue our mission to bring more awareness to breast cancer and also make it a fun night, we will be holding raffles, competitions and lucky door prizes. For more information see below.

Rotary Youth Transition Seminar

Personal Development Opportunity for 16-18 year olds

Rotary District 9640 is currently seeking Awardees to attend the 2019 RYTS Camp. The Camp will run from 17-22 November 2019 at Camp Bornhoffen PCYC, Natural Bridge QLD.

What is RYTS and who is it run by ?

RYTS is a 6 day personal development and leadership program aimed at developing the interpersonal and professional skills of young adults. It is designed for young people aged from 16-18 years old leaving school at the end of the year or to those seeking personal or leadership development. It involves fun activities, inspirational talks and practical workshops.

The program is run by Rotarians and a team of volunteers most of whom have attended previous programs themselves. All of those involved in running the program hold both a Queensland Blue Card and New South Wales Working with Children Check.

The program costs $590 per awardee. All potential attendees need to be endorsed by a local Club who may be able to pay some (e.g. 50%) or all of this cost - the rest will be up to the student. Students will agree with their endorsing club on the amount of sponsorship provided (if any). Clubs also have access, in limited circumstances, to funds for students in disadvantaged situations should they not be able to provide the whole cost themselves.

Where can I get more information ?

See the attached brochure that outlines the key details of the program. You can also visit the RYTS website at https://rotary9640.org/page/ryts to find out more - this will also allow students access to the application form.

Finally, if you would like any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at ryts9640@gmail.com or call the program Chair, Gareth Hunt on 0414 408 299.
