Senior Secondary Update

Thankyou to all students and staff for what has been another action-packed Term 3! This term has bought with it many opportunities where our students have represented both themselves and our school – it has been a joy to witness PBC students once again flourishing in their fields of expertise. To all families, we wish you a wonderful September holidays and hope our senior students come back to Term 4 feeling renewed for one last term in 2024.

Year 12 Graduation Ceremony & Formal Dinner

Please keep your eye on emails from Mitch Kennedy – Deputy Principal 11/12 regarding the upcoming Year 12 Graduation Ceremony & Formal Dinner, to be held on Friday the 15th of November at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre. Information regarding FAQs around this event, as well as a Ticketek link for guest ticket purchases will be communicated by the end of the week. Please note, there are 2 events on the one night – with our Graduation Ceremony commencing from 6pm (arrivals from 4:30pm) and our Formal Dinner for graduating students only commencing at 8:30pm.

Year 12 Timings

Term 4 is certainly a busy time to be a Year 12 student! A reminder of the following timings that impact Year 12’s:

  • Start of Term 4 – Monday 30th September
  • Last Day of timetabled classes – Thursday 10th October
  • SWOTVAC Study Week – Monday 14th October – Friday 18th October
  • Academic Awards (invite only) – Tuesday 15th October
  • External Exams Commence – Monday 21st October – Tuesday 12th November https://www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/senior/assessment/external-assessment/timetable
  • Graduation & Formal – Friday 15th November

Year 12

QTAC applications

All Year 12 students looking to puruse tertiary pathways in 2025 or defer tertiary courses must do a QTAC application. They should check their emails for instructions as to how to apply for university through this process. Students also need to register with QTAC to receive their ATARs (the QCAA does not calculate ATARs and unless students register they will not be emailed their ATAR in mid December).

Scholarship Opportunity

This year there are two Diploma scholarships available for Year 12 students to apply for. The scholarships available are two fully funded places (usually costing approx. $5,000) in the Diploma programme at Aurora Training Institute in 2025 and all Year 12 students are welcome to apply. The Diploma’s available for students to complete are:

  • Diploma of Business
  • Diploma of Leadership and Management
  • Diploma of Hospitality

Any interested students should contact Mr Poirrier jrpoi0@eq.edu.au for an application form. Applications close Thursday October 10th at 3PM (Week 2, Term 4).
