Student Achievements

We encourage parents/caregivers to email your student’s recent achievements to us. These excellent achievements can be in The Arts, sporting, academic or community service. We would love to hear from you! Please email us at news@pbc-shs.eq.edu.au with details of your student’s achievement and include at least one photo, and/or any links to media articles that we can share via our social media, Facebook @PalmBeachCurrumbinStateHigh or Instagram @pbcshs, Parent Newsletter and internal communications. You can also send achievement photos and details through Facebook Messenger or Instagram Direct Message apps.

 

Touch Football

Congratulations to PBC's Touch Excellent students Emily Phillips and Sierrah Dawson who last weekend represented South Qld Sharks 15’s at the Qld Junior State Championships in Bundaberg. After going through the tournament undefeated the girls finished runners up to Central Qld Bulls. From this tournament, Emily and Sierrah were selected in the 16 Years Titans Girls team for the QLD Youth Academy Camp in February 2020. Fantastic achievement!

  

MLTAQ Spanish Speaking Competition

Congratulations to PBC's Marnie Lambert who recently entered the MLTAQ Spanish Speaking Competition at Griffith University representing PBC. Marnie performed beautifully and received a Highly Commended Award. Well done Marnie!

Basketball

Congratulations to Lailani Brown for competing at the U17 Oceanic Championships in New Caledonia. Lailani represented Samoa placing 4th at the tournament and qualifying for the Asia Championship in Japan 2020. This is an incredible achievement for Lailani at 14 years of age to represent her country, travel the world and compete against elite athletes from various countries. What an experience!

 

  

Alumni Success

Congratulations to PBC alumni Jye Gillard who has been awarded a track scholarship at the Highland College, Kansas City, USA! Jye left PBC in 2018. He is the current Queensland Schools U18 400m Champion, the current Queensland U20 400m Champion and ranked no. 2 in Australia U20 400m! When asked about being a 2019 Track & Field recruit Jye said, "Looking forward to meeting and training with new people". We wish you the best of luck Jye! Once a red, always a red!

National Duathlon Championships

Congratulations to PBC's Samuel McAuliffe who travelled to Townsville at the weekend to compete in the National Duathlon Championships. Samuel won overall the GNM Group Duathlon (opens and under 19s) - 5km run, 20km ride and 2.5km run.  Samuel has also been selected in the Queensland State Triathlon Team. Great work Samuel!

   

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Congratulations to PBC's Tayla Miller Year 10, who competed at the Rhythmic Gymnastics Queensland State Championships on Saturday 17 August on the Gold Coast. Tayla placed SECOND overall winning medals for her Level 9 rope, ball, clubs and ribbon routines. Tayla has been selected for the '2020 International Senior Group Team' and her next individual competition will be at the National Gymnastics Clubs Carnival in September 2019. Fantastic!

 

National Cross Country

Congratulations to PBC's Aspen Anderson who came 7th in the National Cross Country recently! Aspen was part of the QLD Team who won team Gold! What a fantastic result! Well done Aspen.

Dance Supreme Competition

Congratulations to PBC's Jazz Woodall, Year 9 Dance Excellence student who has had much success recently at Get The Beats new competition - ‘Supreme’. Jazz won 1st place and a Gold Award for her street tap solo and then went on to receiving a spot in the top 10 highest scoring solos, where she won Runner Up! Jazz went on to win Runner Up and gaining a Title in the Title Contender section. Well done Jazz!
