Middle School Guidance Officer

School Based Youth Nurse 

This term I have assisted Year 9 classes in their delivery of adolescent development and respectful relationships. They have been fun and engaging classes with more to come in Weeks 9 and 10.

Prior to the beginning class I asked students in a pre-survey who they could go to or ask for more information on these topics.

Of the 496 responses I received back 181 (or 36%) that stated they could ask “mum, dad, parents, or guardians.” This was by far the highest result. 

I have attached a tip sheet designed for parents on how to talk about these sensitive issues with your teenagers. It's important to address questions as they arise.

If you need further help or don’t feel confident talking to your teens if they ask questions, then I am available for consultation to parents as well.
