Motorcycling

Anika Loftus returns to Australia having represented her country at the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Women’s Speedway Academy & Gold Trophy in Teterow, Germany on the 20-22 June.

The momentous occasion for women in speedway saw Anika finish 3rd.

Unfortunately, Anika also had a rough spill in the Final with another rider, leaving her with a broken collarbone. After successful surgery in Germany, Anika went on to support her brother at the FIM Speedway Grand Prix 3 Final in Poland.

Anika now holds a place in Australian Speedway history as the first woman to make a world final and podium.

Anika was also invited by the Polish Motor Association to participate in the 2024 Ekstraliga Camp where talented international riders show their skills to the PGE Ekstraliga training staff to develop their careers in Poland. Unfortunately Anika was unable to participate due to her injury but attended and supported her brother, Jordy.

What a fantastic achievement - well done Anika!!

Jordy Loftus, younger sibling of Anika returns from Europe having represented Australia at the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Speedway Grand Prix 3 (250cc) in Teterow, Germany on the 22 June & Gorzow, Poland on the 28 June.

Jordy qualified 5th in Semi Final 1 in Germany to be ranked 9th for the Final in Poland and finished 13th out of 38 riders from 15 countries.

Jordy was also invited by the Polish Motor Association to participate in the 2024 Ekstraliga Camp where talented international riders show their skills to the PGE Ekstraliga training staff to develop their careers in Poland. The camp included training and a two day tournament. At the conclusion of Day 1, Jordy shared equal points for the top position and on count back finished 2nd. Day 2 saw Jordy finish 5th overall.

Well done to Jordy!!
