NAIDOC
This years NAIDOC theme is ‘Keep the fire burning, Blak, loud and proud’! This year the NAIDOC theme encapsulates the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity, empowering us to stand tall in our heritage and assert our place in the modern world. This theme calls for a reclamation of narratives, an amplification of voices, and an unwavering commitment to justice and equality. It invites all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully valued and respected.
Our schools NAIDOC ceremony celebrated NAIDOC week by hosting an assembly for students and community members. Aunty Joyce Summers (our local community elder) was accompanied by her great granddaughter, Year 12 student Tayah Chilcott to deliver a powerful Acknowledgement to Country.
Our Audience was treated to very special performances from ‘Jaran’ Torres Strait Islander Dance Troupe and our very own PBC ‘Ginbi’ Aboriginal girls Dance Troupe.
We also acknowledged and congratulated the 37 First Nations Year 12 students on Track to graduate year 12 in 2024.
Murri Jarjums and Clontarf staff, along with our First Nations Students and Community members all met after our assembly for morning tea and to highlight and share the achievements of our students so far this year.
