Mathematics News Update
Whoever coined the term ‘Every Day Counts’ must have been a mathematics teacher. Consider the mathematics curriculum as bricks; each year we lay down a new layer, building on prior knowledge. Absences are missing bricks – next year the foundation to support it won’t be as strong. Our teachers work diligently to ensure every math lesson is purposeful and supports the development numeracy capability.
Please prompt your child to do a quick stocktake of their equipment. Whether it be needing new notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers or a calculator your child will not be as successful as they could be if they were properly prepared for each lesson.
A note about calculators. Students are expected to have their own scientific calculator for all Maths lessons. Casio is the preferred model (Model FX82 Plus II 2nd Edition - see image below) at PBC, but any scientific calculator is acceptable.
