Student Achievements

We encourage parents/caregivers to email your student’s excellent recent achievements to us. These achievements can be in The Arts, sporting, academic or community service. We would love to hear from you! Please email us at news@pbc-shs.eq.edu.au with details of your student’s achievement and include at least one photo, and/or any links to media articles that we can share.

It has been a HUGE couple of weeks for Surf Lifesaving with the QLD Titles and Aussie Titles and many of our students involved, see below for some of these results.

QLD State Surf Lifesaving Titles

Taj Murray and Summer Murray competed at the state surf lifesaving carnival over 3 long days coming away with some great results.

2 gold  2 silver  and 4 bronze

PBC would also like to congratulate Year 7 student Harper Skelton, who recently completed in the Aussie Titles and did an amazing job! Harper scored a ?silver medal in the individual ironman race, and also made all of his individual finals on Saturday, achieving 2 out of 4 team finals.
 
Harper also competed in the recent QLD State Titles and came away with the following medals -

3rd Surf Race
3rd Board Relay
 
What a fantastic effort by all students!!

Speedway - Australian Wingless Sprint Titles

Year 12 PBC student Harry Fowler has qualified to compete in the Australian Title for Wingless Sprints over the ANZAC weekend April 25-27. This is Harry’s first Australian Title in an adult division. There are 78 competitors from all over Australia nominated to compete over the 3 days. Harry will be the youngest competitor in the Title with many competitors having raced in the division for many years - some for up to 30 years! This is Harry’s first season in the wingless division. The event will be held at his local track ‘The home of Champions - Lismore Speedway’. Congratulations and best of luck next weekend Harry! 

Athletics

Congratulations to year 10 PBC student Dylan Gardiner, who recently competed in the Australian Athletics Championships.
 
Dylan's results as follows -
U17 Men’s
3rd Bronze Medal in Pole Vault
4th Decathlon
8th 110m Hurdles
 
Dylan started the week with the Decathlon, competing in ten events across two days, this was a very tough competition and he ended up with 4th place, a great achievement. Only being relatively new to pole vault he was very happy to receive a Bronze Medal in the u17 Men’s Pole Vault competition with a big 50cm personal best.
