Senior Secondary Update
Welcome back to our entire PBC community for Term 2. We hope that you had a restful and enjoyable Easter break with your loved ones. As always, the term ahead promises to be a jam-packed one for our students and families as we work towards the half-way point of the year. We look forward to celebrating success with each family at our upcoming Parent Teacher Interview nights and through our first formal reporting junctures, held across this term.
ANZAC Ceremony
We invite all members of our parent community to the PBC ANZAC Ceremony, to be held in our Quad at 9am on Wednesday 24th April, 2024. We are proud of how our school commemorates such an important day, with all 3000 members of our student and staff body being gathered at once in recognition of our ANZAC's.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Booking information regarding our upcoming Parent Teacher Interviews will be emailed to all parents directly on Monday 29th April. These are to be held across Tuesday May 14th, Wednesday May 15th and Thursday May 16th. Please note that teacher availability is varied and spaces will fill quickly, with most staff teaching over 120 students each. We look forward to seeing as many students and parents as possible for this very valuable opportunity for feedback on progress and results.
Any questions, please contact our SS administration on 55259333.

- The Year 11 Exam schedule for week 5 will be published on the school website ( https://pbc-shs.eq.edu.au/curriculum/testing-and-assessment ) in the coming week. This exam schedule is not a shutdown all classes run as per normal and students just attend the library when they have a scheduled exam.

Other senior schooling news
- A group of Year 12 students completed their First Aid and Safety course on Monday April 22. As this course is structured as 25% of a Certificate 3, these students will attain 2 QCE points. This course will also be offered again in term 3.
- Year 10s and 11s are again encouraged to register for School based traineeships and apprenticeships (SAT) in Y block. A SAT will give students paid employment, work experience and a Certificate 3 qualification which gains extra QCE credits, but also opens up a tertiary pathway. Year 11 students must commence a SAT before July to ensure it is completed by the time they exit school. Please contact Ms Shreeve in Y block for more information.
- Students in Year 10 are again reminded that their academic performance in Year 10 semester 1 will determine which pathway they can choose in Year 11. Students wishing to complete an ATAR pathway need to achieve Bs in English and Maths. Students wishing to study a senior science course in year 11 and 12 also need to achieve a B in Year 10 Science.
