Year 11 Students - courses commencing in Term 4 2023 and Term 1 2024
Gold Coast Trades College have a number of Term 4 2023 & Term 1 2024 openings for:
- Year 10 students who have not chosen a VETis funded course at PBC on their SET Plan
- Year 11 students who have not used their VETis funding
Students who enrol in a VET certificate course with GCTC attend their training facilities for one full school day per week, providing their own transport. Students undertake external VET courses in addition to their timetabled senior subjects.
Courses available include:
- Certificate 2 Electrotechnology
- Certificate 2 Plumbing
- Certificate 1 Construction
- Certificate 2 Automotive
Barista Course (Hospitality Skillset) – prepare and serve espresso coffee - Year 12 non-ATAR students
Year 12 students on a personalised pathway, i.e. not eligible for an ATAR, have the opportunity to complete a barista course on the last 3 days of Week 10 (13th- 15th September).
The skillset incorporates Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Provide Responsible Gambling Services (RSG) competencies, and represents 25% of a Certificate 3 in Hospitality. Students who successfully complete will attain 2 QCE points.
The cost is $220 per student.
Students can register with Sonia Shreeve or Mick McDougall in Y block.
Please note that the course is not available to ATAR students that have General mock exams scheduled during these dates.
Diploma of Business scholarships for current Year 12 students
As part of their partnership with PBC, Aurora Training Institute are offering two full Diploma of Business scholarships to current Year 12 students graduating in 2023. Successful applicants will commence their Diploma in 2024 and complete the course in 12 months. The Diploma of Business provides students with the opportunity to learn advanced business skills and stand out ahead of their peers. Students will develop skills and knowledge in how to recruit quality staff, plan projects, manage risk and analyse business operations. Business leaders are vital for organisations of every size and scope, and pursuing diploma level studies could give students a wide variety of employment and promotional opportunities in the future.

Attention Year 12 Graduates
Enrolment now open for our pre-apprenticeship courses.
Attached is a list of courses that our year 12s will be able to commence in late November and or January next year.
As these courses use Certificate 3 guarantee funding they are available for all Year 12 school leavers.
