House and CARE Update

Term 3 has kicked off with a bang in House and Care. Students shot their way to glory, and earned House points by participating in the Free Throw Basketball competition. Congratulations to Kaylib of the Athenians and Chae Everitt (Vikings) for taking out first place in the Middle School and Senior School competitions respectively.  Highest participation goes to the Phoenicians House.

PBC’s Got Talent auditions are on now.  Congratulations to all students who auditioned and to the following students who have been selected to progress to their House Finals.

The Grand Final of PBC’s Got Talent will be held in Week 7.  This event will be held in the PBC Hall at first break, and will be a gold coin donation entry. All money raised goes to our 2019 School Charity ‘The Sanctuary’ Women’s and Children’s domestic violence refuge. All students are encouraged to come along, cheer on their House representative and help raise money for this great cause. Good Luck to all finalists.

‘PBC Pets’ Instagram Photo competition is still open. Send your entry into the House Instagram competition page (@interhouse_comps) and ‘like’ your favourite entries. Remember, your photo must include a hand heart symbol and of course, your pet.  Competition closes 3:00pm Friday 9 August. Every entry earns 2 House Points.

Teachers v Students games are always a fun and exciting spectacle. So far this term we have seen our Senior Basketball stars take on the slightly slower, but still just as skilful teachers, with Mr Brown and Ms Schatz dominating down the court. However, with Dylan Rice sinking threes from everywhere, along with Benjamin Date and Kye Mills showing impressive skills, the tight tussle ended in a draw.

The teachers v students Touch game was a true exhibition match, with our Executive Principal Mr Chris Capra refereeing and even our local Policemen joining the Teachers team. Our Senior girls wrapped, dummied and stepped their way around the tiring teachers, but in the end, is was the experience and flair of the teachers that saw them win the game 5-4.

The students quickly bounced back taking out the teacher student Debate.  Kaitlyn Byrne, Brock Watson and Matthew Kilgariff mounted a convincing argument against Ms Fahlbusch, Mr Bishop and Mr Kennedy. The students successfully argued that STEM is far more important than Humanities and the Arts.

Netball, Soccer and Chess comps are still to come.

House Points are now under wraps until the big reveal of the 2019 House Cup winner in Term 4.  Will the Vikings retain the title for a third straight year or will the mighty Phoenicians, Athenians or Spartans put in a late surge to take the trophy? Only time and participation will tell.
