Dear Parents / Caregivers,

Parents will have received an email this week outlining that Anita Sgalippa will take over as the Principal of PBC from the commencement of next term whilst a process is run to find a longer term replacement whilst I work with the Comprehensive Review of School Resourcing team.  I would again like to thank the broader community for all their support over the past six years and leave PBC with many positive memories and achievements.

The school has been working on alternatives to school disciplinary absences (suspensions) this year for behaviours such as truancy and vaping.  After speaking with a range of students across the school and parents including the P&C there is alignment in thinking that suspensions do not alter or deter behavioural choices for certain situations.  Commencing next term, the school is going trial Saturday detentions as a negotiated (with parents) alternative to a suspension for behaviours including truanting and vaping.  More information will be available on the school website at the commencement of next term.   

A reminder that the Year 10 students (all week) and the Year 12 students (Wednesday to Friday) are on exam blocks.  Students are required to be in full school uniform as normal.

Congratulations to the Murri Jarjums and Clontarf staff and students who won a number of awards at the South East Regional Indigenous Education Awards last week.
