Touch Football Girls make Opposition see RED!

On Sunday 28 July, PBC played in the South East Queensland All Schools Touch Football competition at the Palm Beach Touch Football Club. PBC sent two teams to the competition; the U13 girls and U15 girls. It was a huge day of touch with both teams playing five games against schools such as Emmanuel, Kings, Pacific Pines and many more. Both teams represented the REDS with pride and played extremely well. The Under 13’s were very positive all day, cheering on their team mates and pushing each other to succeed. They consistently put pressure on the opposition, forced mistakes and scored some fantastic tries. Their day culminated with a victory over King’s Christian College in the final with a score of 3 to 1.

The Under 15’s were just as impressive. Their defence was extremely strong, their attack was dynamic and their rucking had terrific ball movement. They were dangerous all over the park and every player stepped up and played extremely well. They defeated Emmanuel in the Grand Final 4 to 1 and their for and against for the entire day was a remarkable 35 to 2!

It was also great to see two of our incredible teachers, Anna Wyatt, Michelle Harris and the head of Sport Ex Neil Mackay down there supporting. The girls and I really appreciated it. I would also like to thank Emily Phillips and Emmasen Davis, two of PBC’s Year 10 students for refereeing on the day. They did a great job. Also, thank you to our injured girls for coming and supporting, you are still a huge part of our program and made a huge difference. Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Eggert and Teylar Ross for their coaching and support.

It was a very successful day and a great momentum builder for girls as they prepare for the National All Schools in Week 10 and the QLD All Schools in Week 1 of Term 4. Good luck with your training girls and congratulations of a fantastic day.

Reds make the Bill Turner Cup Final!

PBC defeated Iona College 1-0 in the Queensland Quarter Final of the Bill Turner Cup. The U15’s have progressed to the Queensland Finals Series of the National Knock-Out Competition to be played on Tuesday and Wednesday 6 and 7 August at A.J. Kelly Park Kippa-Ring. The semi-final will be contested against Ipswich Grammar. The PBC boys are in good form keeping clean sheets in their last two games with some rock solid defending and controlling the midfield. After losing last year’s Queensland Final in extra-time the boys are eager to go one better in 2019. With 5 of the team involved in the final series last year, the experiences gained will put us in good stead to challenge for the title again.
