More about our speakers...

The Seaton’s: When our eldest child had appendicitis and was in the old Southport hospital 16yrs ago there was an abandoned baby who had multiple heath issues. When the Red Cross lady told me he had been birthed and left I asked what will happen to him. She said he will be made Ward of the state. I asked what does that mean and she said he would be fostered out. That night I can home and said to Stuart the story, and I wanted to help babies like this.  We had 4 of our own, and I was at home so we decided to do the course, and January 2009 we received our first placement, a premmie baby, and the following 90 plus children have been through our home for the next 14.5years. We have adopted our long term placement who we got at 6 days, he is now 9.5.

Nick Marshall: Sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist, Assistant Professor Nick Marshall, has a passion for ensuring those with special needs and disability are included in the community. In 2015, Nick created the Albatross Nippers; an all-inclusive junior lifesaving program at Nobbys Beach on the Gold Coast, which helps children with special needs experience nippers with other children of similar ages. Growing year on year, the Albatross Nippers program currently has more than 100 families with special needs children and young adults as registered participants.

Em Carey: Emma Carey is an artist, speaker and aspiring writer from Canberra. After following her love for travel and adventure around the world, she found herself in Switzerland where an unexpected near-death experience completely altered her life. Following the turbulence and transformation of her accident, she has been on a mission to share her unique story in hopes to inspire and enhance the lives of those around her. Her book is called ‘The girl who fell from the sky’.

Gold Coast Marathon - Fundraiser

anthonydon.png

Current PBC Teacher and former Titans flyer Anthony Don has announced he will take part in this year's Gold Coast Marathon to raise funds for Joseph Pouniu.

Embarking on a new challenge that will test him physically and mentally having never run a marathon before, the 152-game Gold Coast star knows it will be tough, but is the least he could do to help support the injured Future Titans captain and his family after the 17-year-old suffered a serious spinal cord injury earlier this year.
Joseph suffered a serious spinal cord injury, during a High Performance Gold Coast Titans U17 rugby league game against the Brisbane Broncos in a pre-season trial at the Gold Coast on Saturday 28/01/23. Joe, as known by most, was treated on the field by the club doctor and paramedics before being transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital Emergency Department in Brisbane to treat his catastrophic spinal injury. Joe underwent immediate surgery to stabilise his neck and reattach his c4 and c5 to his spine. Despite the surgery, Joe has suffered major damage to his spinal cord and now faces an enormous battle to be able to regain any movement from his shoulders down.
